Canon 6D MkII – Rumoured
People have been speculating about a 6D MkII for some time now. 2012 seems like a long time ago since the 6D was first released, filling the gap in Canon’s lineup as an entry level Full Frame camera and boy was it successful! It was the ideal choice for those wanting a Full Frame camera, without spending several thousands on a 5D.
With Canon’s usual timeline, 2016 seemed the obvious release date of a MkII version of this popular camera, but more details have been released and it looks like everyone will have to wait a little longer with a rumoured announcement some time in early Spring of 2017.
The details have come overnight from CanonRumors, so nothing has been confirmed, but they are very rarely wrong.
The new 6D MkII, from the rumoured specs at least, is shaping up to be one hell of a camera and may well fill the needs and wants of those unable to justify the price of the 5D MkIV.
– 25MP FF sensor
– Better AF system
– 4K video; although no details on crop amount, I’d expect a lesser crop than the 5D MkIV due to the smaller MP sensor
– Dual SD Card slots
– Articulating screen
– Dual Pixel AF
– lighter and smaller body
The initial specs, if they come to fruition, certainly sound impressive and will please those wanting high specs without the high price tag.
